Summary View help for Summary
This study contains county-level net migration estimates, by five-year age cohorts, sex, race, and Hispanic origin, for the intercensal period from 2010 to 2020. This file is part of a series of estimates done for each decade since 1950. Details on how net migration and corresponding net migration rates are calculated are described in the methodology document. In addition, data is available through mapping and charting interfaces at Net Migration Patterns for U.S. Counties.

Description of Variables View help for Description of Variables
The data file contains 3,190 cases (counties) across the United States. There are 1,372 variables. The file begins with four geography variables for state and county (2 each). The data file consists of four methods for counting population and migration. These include:
- Population in 2020
- Net Migration in 2010s
- Expected Population in 2020
- Net Migration Rate in 2010s
These four methods repeat for different combinations of race / Hispanic origin (5 categories), gender (2 categories), and age group (18 categories). There are sections for the following combinations.
- By race, gender, and age group
- By race and age group
- By race and gender
- By race
- By gender and age group
- By age group
- By gender
- Overall totals
The five race / Hispanic origin categories include: non-Hispanic Asian / Pacific Islander, non-Hispanic Black, Hispanic, American Indian / Alaskan Native, and non-Hispanic White. The 18 age group categories, grouped into 5-year blocks, ranged from 0 - 4 to 85 or older.
