Need Help Meeting NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy Requirements?
As of January 25, 2023, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) requires all investigators to submit a Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Plan as part of any proposal collecting scientific data. The DMS Plan describes how scientific data will be managed, shared, and made findable and accessible to future researchers.
Need general guidance with your DMS Plan?
The new ICPSR Share NIH Data page contains a number of resources to support your NIH grant preparations including:
- A downloadable NIH DMS Plan Template that includes information on sharing NIH data with ICPSR along with copy-paste language
- Guidance with budgeting
- Navigating NIH's Data Management & Sharing Policy with ICPSR's NIH-Funded Projects: DSDR, NACDA, NAHDAP webinar
Have questions about a project you plan to submit for NICHD funding?
DSDR curates and releases data from projects supported by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). DSDR can help with questions related to preparing an NICHD-funded data collection project for deposit with DSDR, write letters of support, and assist with preparing cost estimates for researchers wanting to include curation costs in an NICHD proposal budget. We encourage you to contact us as early as possible in the proposal process to schedule a time to discuss your project’s needs (we recommend at least 10 business days before your application will be submitted).
