Announcing the New Relationship Dynamics and Social Life (RDSL) [Genesee County, Michigan], 2008-2012 Series

The Relationship Dynamics and Social Life (RDSL) data files have been reorganized as two separate studies available on the RDSL series page:

  1. ICPSR 36565: Restricted versions of the Baseline and Supplement Survey data; and
  2. ICPSR 34626: Public and highly restricted versions of the Baseline and Supplement Survey and the Journal data.

The public, restricted, and highly restricted versions of the data files can be compared using the RDSL Variable Crosswalk. Data users interested in analyzing the restricted or highly restricted versions of the data can apply for access from the respective study home pages.

The RDSL Series aims to investigate individual personality traits, attitudes and behaviors, social processes, and types of romantic relationships that lead to early and/or unintended pregnancies during the transition to adulthood. The RDSL Series is based on a representative sample of 1,003 women aged 18 to 22 residing in Genesee County, Michigan.

The baseline survey was conducted March 2008 through July 2009 and was followed by a series of three supplemental surveys administered over a two-and-a-half year period between May 2009 and August 2011.
