Introducing the Katrina@10 Series!
The new Katrina@10 Series consists of three studies, each focusing on specific subpopulations uniquely affected by Hurricane Katrina.
- Katrina@10: Resilience in Survivors of Katrina Project (RISK) Subsample, New Orleans, Louisiana, 2005-2019 (ICPSR 39335)
- Katrina@10: Gulf Coast Child and Family Health Study (GCAFH) Subsample, Louisiana and Mississippi, 2005-2019 (ICPSR 39339)
- Katrina@10: Katrina Impacts on Vietnamese Americans in New Orleans (KATIVA NOLA) Subsample, Louisiana, 2005-2019 (ICPSR 39340)
In addition, the Katrina@10 program contains two secondary analyses of data that are more broadly representative of the overall affected population. Supporting and coordinating these research projects, Katrina@10 was organized around three cores: Administrative, Data Collection, and Data Management and Dissemination. The studies examine trajectories of recovery between sub-populations as well as how these compared to mainstream populations, effects of predisposing factors (such as poverty) and degree of impact, determinants of long-term recovery, and more.
Funded by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the project also explores how well the socio-economic model of disaster and recovery developed by the research team (Abramson et al, 2010) is able to predict recovery.
