What is your ICPSR Job Title?
Senior DevOps Engineer BSA
What is a favorite memory or instance you have working at ICPSR? What makes ICPSR a great place to work?
I really love all of the people I've worked with - everyone here is very collaborative. Coming from a very drab office building, I also appreciate the character of the Perry Building and all of the energy that comes from Campus.
Where are you from?
Dexter, MI
What is your favorite part of your job?
Anything involving organizing and/or planning. I appreciate the variety of work involved in my role.
How long have you worked here?
Just over 2 months
What do you do when not at work?
I write YA fiction and direct or co-direct several writers' groups. I love playing board games like Catan or Machi Koro. I also enjoy light travel hacking - it's a fun puzzle to assemble a "free" or heavily discounted vacation.
What have you read/viewed/listened to/etc. recently?
On my last vacation, I read "The Boy who was Raised as a Dog". It's about the effects of trauma on children - not exactly a light read, but many of the case studies had positive outcomes.
What might surprise us about you?
I spent 6 years working on a fantastic team dubbed "The Wayfaring Narwhals". I have Narwhals everywhere and dress as one for Halloween.
Anything else that you'd like to share with us?
I've been a vegetarian most of my life. I know more than I should about Sonic the Hedgehog and Dying Malls thanks to my (almost) 12-year-old.
