What to Expect: The openICPSR Repository Transition

openICPSR data and deposit tools are about to fully integrate into ICPSR. Integration will provide data-seekers and depositors with the same search and deposit tools across all ICPSR properties! Transition will take several months to complete; this page will be updated as the move progresses. ICPSR thanks you for your patience and support during this transition.

Data remain safe and accessible:

  • openICPSR data are safe. These self-published data and documentation are being fully integrated into the ICPSR collection.
  • Data will remain open to the public and accessible using the same process of logging into ICPSR, agreeing to the terms of use, and having unrestricted data delivered directly to your desktop/device.
  • openICPSR data will continue to be searchable on the ICPSR website going forward (this is not changing). openICPSR data will continue to be searchable on the openICPSR site until the site is fully integrated into ICPSR.
  • Data “home pages” will begin to take on a new look and will have the same display features available as ICPSR curated data. During the transition, you may see some data presented in the current design and others in the new design. The data and your experience are safe. Consider this a sneak peek into the new-and-improved design that all ICPSR data will experience!
  • The openICPSR “themed” repositories are also moving, available, and accessible during the transition.

openICPSR transition navigation will temporarily be added to the ICPSR website:

  • Navigation will continue to function as expected on the openICPSR website until all functionality, including deposit, is integrated into the ICPSR website. This will take several months to transition. openICPSR navigation is being added to the ICPSR website simply as another entry during the move.

openICPSR deposit services will also be integrated in the future:

  • The openICPSR Deposit (Share Data) tool transition is coming soon. openICPSR depositors will continue to use the current openICPSR deposit tool. Depositors who are in the process of depositing into openICPSR will be contacted via the contact information they provide in the deposit tool well in advance of the deposit integration dates.
  • ICPSR will share more information on the deposit transition timeline when it is available. The openICPSR deposit will also be integrated into one ICPSR tool for a seamless experience and access to improved data deposit and metadata management tools. Stay tuned for more announcements to come!
