- Her current research focuses on the National Social Life, Health and Aging Project, also known as NSHAP, which she directs. NSHAP examines the links between social connectivity and health in older ages, and has at its heart a nationally representative, longitudinal survey of older adults.
- She is the recipient of a merit award from the National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health, and an elected member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
