The Research Data Ecosystem
Expanding access to research data to spur breakthrough scientific research
The Research Data Ecosystem (RDE) will introduce new tools (including TurboCurator, Explore Data, and the Researcher Passport) to support the entire research data lifecycle on a modern data software platform. Researchers can safely and securely access, connect, store, and manipulate data.
The Research Data Ecosystem: a National Resource for Reproducible, Robust, and Transparent Social Science Research in the 21st Century, is funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation as a Mid-scale RI-2 Infrastructure Award (#1946932).

What is it?
Added functionality for statistical data exploration available on thousands of ICPSR datasets.
What does it do?
Use it to find the right data for your research, fast! Without downloading, gain instant insights into the data including sample sizes and means for populations and subgroups of interest, and more!

What is it?
A secure authentication system for access and application for on-demand and restricted-use data.
What does it do?
Whether the data you seek are on-demand or restricted-use, travel securely across ICPSR and other data-providers without additional passwords and authentications. Use the enhanced researcher passport for more streamlined entry (application and access) to restricted-use data while maintaining researcher privacy and data security.

What is it?
Available on Dataverse instances, TurboCurator uses AI to generate metadata recommendations for a study's title, description, and keywords.
What does it do?
Use it to increase your research impact and impress your funders by making your research data more findable. Simply enter in your study title, description, and keywords; TurboCurator uses AI and ICPSR's keyword-thesaurus to improve and standardize your metadata.
