What is your ICPSR Job Title?

Senior Data Project Manager

What is a favorite memory or instance you have working at ICPSR? What makes ICPSR a great place to work?

Aside from the super cool people that work here and the collaborative environment we have, even virtually...I truly appreciate the support that ICPSR works hard to provide for people, including those with disabilities. In any work environment, especially right out of college, I had to advocate and fight to get access to information and accommodations I needed to work, and ICPSR was the first and one of the few willing to ensure I had equitable access to information and opportunity to participate in the work environment. They continue to do so and check in with me. So, I'll always be grateful for this aspect of ICPSR, amongst all others. One of my favorite memories of ICPSR is realizing this unexpected fact, even during the first days.

Where are you from?

Currently, I live in Temperance, Michigan (NOT OHIO). People who know will know why I said what I said. :o)

What is your favorite part of your job?

I’ll cheat and name a few things because I like the variety of wonderful things that come with my job. 1) collaborating with and getting to know my colleagues, 2) endless opportunities to learn new things, even simple tricks to improve workflows, project plans, and efficiencies, 3) working on new and innovative projects, and 4) problem-solving and strategizing!

How long have you worked here?

15 years in January 2023 (holy moly!)

What do you do when not at work?

This is tough; I enjoy lots of different things! I sort of have a second job in that I help my husband with his woodworking business, mainly in bookkeeping and organizing. As well, I spend time with family and friends when I can, even through FaceTime! To sort of de-stress, I love cooking, walking and biking outside, playing sports or games, reading and watching movies, and sleeping! Most of all, I love to be with my husband and kitty cat, even if just chilling on the couch.

What have you read/viewed/listened to/etc. recently?

I often draw a blank when I’m asked this question on the spot! But on Netflix, I did watch the “Wednesday” series. I highly recommend it, especially for those who like the Addams Family.

What might surprise us about you?

I think maybe nothing? But, just in case people do not know...I am partially colorblind, thanks to genetics. Oh, one thing, I like to wear goggles when I cut onions because that definitely helps to stop the tears from coming out!

Anything else that you'd like to share with us?

I like meeting people and getting to know them. If we haven’t met, I hope to meet you soon!
