Version V1
The Higher Education General Information Survey (HEGIS) was designed to provide comprehensive information on various aspects of postsecondary education in the United States and its territories (American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the Marshall Islands) and Department of Defense schools outside the United States. The HEGIS Basic Student Charges Component for 1982-1983 was distributed as supplement to the HEGIS XVII package to nearly 3,325 institutions of higher education and their branches located in the United States and its outlying areas. This file contains final, edited data for 98 percent of these institutions. Additionally, .6 percent of the 3,265 institutions surveyed were imputed. The data cover information about sex, race, calendar system, type of accreditation, and basic student charges, including graduate and undergraduate tuitions, and room and board charges.
