This data collection is comprised of the March supplemental data from the 1973, 1974, and 1975 Annual Demographic Files of the Current Population Survey (CPS). Standard monthly labor force data are provided in addition to supplemental data on the topic of migration. Moreover, comprehensive information is given on the employment status, occupation, and industry of persons aged 14 and older. Additional data are available concerning work experience, weeks worked and hours per week worked, reason not working full-time, total income and other sources of income, and type of residence. Information on demographic characteristics such as age, sex, race, educational attainment, marital status, veteran status, household relationship, and Hispanic origin, is available for each person in the household enumerated.

The Contingent Work Supplement questions were asked of all household members aged 15 years or older who had jobs during the reference week and worked for pay or profit or who did not have jobs during the reference week but looked for work during the last year and were available for work during the reference week. The supplement data include information on contingent or temporary work performed without the expectation of continuing employment from an employer. Also included is information about each worker's expectation of continuing employment, satisfaction with his or her current employment arrangement, current job history, transition into the current employment arrangement, search for other employment, employee benefits, and earnings.

Workers who lost a job within the previous five years due to operating decisions of their employer were surveyed. Data include the reasons for job displacement, industry and occupation, job tenure and earnings, and health and unemployment benefits. The occupational training portion of the collection contains data on training program attended within the past two years, including the number, length, and type of programs attended, as well as the source of payment. The monthly labor force information includes data for persons age 14 and older on employment status, occupation, and industry. Demographic data such as age, sex, race, marital status, veteran status, education, household relationship, and Spanish origin are also provided.
