Summer Training in Aging Research (STAR) Program
Apply for the NIA Summer Training in Aging Research (STAR) Program!
The program curriculum offers participants with a broad range of career interests opportunities to learn the latest scientific and lab skills, as well as valuable lessons from experienced investigators. For mentors, STAR is a golden opportunity to support emerging scientists and help diversify the research workforce by encouraging your talented students to apply. NIA summer internships last from eight to ten weeks, beginning in late May and ending in mid-to-late August. Students receive hands-on experience and attend weekly seminars presented by NIA scientists. At the conclusion of the summer program, students present their data developed from their research project at the NIA Summer Student Poster Day. Program participants receive a stipend which is based on the amount of education completed at the time the fellowship begins.
Apply by March 1, 2022.
College, medical school, and graduate students can apply through the NIH Office of Intramural Training and Education website, which also provides application tips.
After students submit their online applications, they should contact Arlene.Jackson@nih.gov to ensure they are placed in the NIA applicant pool for consideration.
