Respondents were queried regarding how things were going in Los Angeles, the most important problem facing the city, the future of the city, and whether they had seriously considered moving out of Los Angeles in the last year. Major topics explored include race relations, confidence in local police, the Los Angeles criminal justice system and its treatment of Blacks, solving the problems that led to the civil disturbances in the spring of 1992, the Reginald Denny beating case, and the verdict in the Rodney King beating case. Background information on respondents includes political party identification, political orientation, 1992 mayoral vote choice, education, age, race, Hispanic origin, family income, and sex.
