Common Sense Census Series
The purpose of the Common Sense Census is to offer a comprehensive picture of the use of media by young people in the U.S. The study documents the frequency of young people’s use of media, the amount of time devoted to these activities and devices per day, how much young people enjoy each media activity, and the differences among young people by age, gender, race/ethnicity, and socioeconomic status (SES). The data were gathered from large-scale, nationally representative, probability-based online surveys administered to different age groups. Demographics include age, household income, parent education, race/ethnicity, gender, household size, and parent/caregiver employment status.
