  • Search terms can be anywhere in the study: title, description, variables, etc.
  • Because our holdings are large, we recommend using at least two query terms:
    rural economy
    home ownership
    higher education
  • Keywords help delimit the breadth of results. Therefore, use as many as required to achieve your desired results:
    elementary education federal funding
  • Our search will find studies with derivative expressions of your query terms: A search for "nation"will find results containing "national"
  • Use quotes to search for an exact expression:
    "social mobility"
  • You can combine exact expressions with loose terms:
    "united states" inmates
  • Exclude results by using a MINUS sign:
    elections -sweden -germany
will exclude swedish and german election studies
  • On the results page, you will be able to sort and filter to further refine results.

United States Department of Education. National Center for Education Statistics
The School Survey on Crime and Safety (SSOCS) is managed by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) on behalf of the United States Department of Education (ED). SSOCS collects extensive crime and safety data from principals and school administrators of public schools in America. Data from this collection can be used to correlate school characteristics with violent and serious violent crimes in American schools. Furthermore, data from SSOCS can be used to assess what school programs, practices, and policies are used by schools in their efforts to prevent crime. SSOCS has been conducted three times, in school years 1999-2000, 2003-2004, and 2005-2006. The 1999-2000 School Survey on Crime and Safety (SSOCS:2000) was developed by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and conducted by Abt Associates Inc. Funding for the survey was provided by the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools. Questionnaire packets were mailed to 3,366 public primary, middle, high, and combined schools. A total of 2,270 public schools submitted usable questionnaires for a weighted response rate of 70 percent. Data were collected from March 27, 2000 to August 15, 2000.

Vocational Education [United States]: Crosswalk Between the Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) and Handbook VI, 1981  (ICPSR 2375)
United States Department of Education. National Center for Education Statistics
This file was designed to enable users to locate instructional programs by crosswalking from the previously used Handbook VI code listings to the new Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) code listings. The CIP is a taxonomic coding scheme of educational instructional programs that was originally developed by the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). The CIP was intended to establish standard terminology to improve the communication and exchange of information with regard to instructional programs and to standardize record-keeping. Among the intended users of the CIP system, in addition to the federal government, are state governments, local governments, educational institutions, education research organizations, accrediting agencies, professional associations, and individual researchers.

This study analyzes GPA data from the transcripts of college grades using the Baccalaureate and Beyond survey data from the National Center for Education Statistics at the US Department of Education. It reports GPAs overall and for 12 undergraduate majors including economics. The regression analysis investigates the likely effects of prior ability or achievement, demographics, and institutional variables on both the overall GPA and GPAs in selected academic subjects, including economics. Gender differences are explored for the marginal effects of taking a course in a subject and differences in the percentages of "A" grades earned when a course is taken.

NCES EDGE Comparable Wage Index for Teachers (CWIFT) go to DataLumos site
United States Department of Education. Institute of Education Sciences. National Center for Education Statistics
The Comparable Wage Index for Teachers (CWIFT) is an experimental index created by the Education Demographic and Geographic Estimates (EDGE) program at the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) to facilitate comparison of educational expenditures. The CWIFT is a measure of the systematic, regional variations in the wages and salaries of college graduates who are not PK-12 educators as determined by reported occupational category. It can be used by researchers to adjust school district-level finance data in order to make comparisons across geographic areas. The CWIFT is based on data from the American Community Survey (ACS), a continuous household survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau. The ACS provides information about the earnings, age, occupation, industry, and other demographic characteristics for millions of U.S. workers. The CWIFT measures wage and salary differences for college graduates, using an analysis that is modeled after the baseline analysis used to construct the original CWI released by NCES in 2006.

The School District Data Book (SDDB) is an education database and information system. It contains an extensive set of data on children, their households, and the nation's school systems. Under the sponsorship of the National Center for Education Statistics, the Bureau of the Census has produced special tabulation files using the basic record files of the 1990 Census of Population and Housing by school district. These tabulation files contain aggregated data describing attributes of children and households in school districts. Data are organized by seven types of tabulation records: (1) characteristics of all households, (2) characteristics of all persons, (3) characteristics of households with children, (4) characteristics of parents living with children, (5) children's household characteristics, (6) children's parents' characteristics, and (7) children's own characteristics.
