Released/updated on: 2026-06-03
Geographic coverage: United States
Time period: 2023-01-01--2024-12-31
This dataset contains concentrations of specific chemical compounds found in wastewater from locations throughout the United States of America. Sampling was conducted from the fall of 2023 for approximately one year as part of the National Institute for Drug Abuse (NIDA) 2023 Pilot program. Concentrations were ascertained via LC-MS/MS protocols developed by Biobot Analytics. Parent compounds are broken down into their metabolites upon ingestion and excretion. Both parent compounds and their metabolites are found in wastewater and concentrations for both groups are included in this dataset.

Characterization or Exposure and Risk in Colombian ASGM Communities (ICPSR 198824)

Released/updated on: 2024-03-05
Geographic coverage: Colombia
Time period: 2019-01-01--2024-12-31
A mixed-method approach was utilized to better understand the perceptions and risks associated with artisanal and small-scale gold mining practiced in the communities of Yolombó and La Toma in Colombia. The measures included herein are (i) a survey given to community members by researchers from Universidad Del Valle in 2020 and (ii) dietary consumption diaries given to community members in 2022. Surveys addressed topics such as (i) perceptions of mercury use in ASGM, (ii) common practices related to mining and personal protective equipment use, (iii) consumption of locally sourced water, fish, meats, and fruit, (iv) and access to water research and sanitation services. Dietary consumption diaries further assessed the consumption of locally sourced water and fish to better quantify estimates of human exposure.

The Eurobarometer series is a unique cross-national and cross-temporal survey program conducted on behalf of the European Commission. These surveys regularly monitor public opinion in the European Union (EU) member countries and consist of standard modules and special topic modules. The standard modules address attitudes towards European unification, institutions and policies, measurements for general socio-political orientations, as well as respondent and household demographics. The special topic modules address such topics as agriculture, education, natural environment and resources, public health, public safety and crime, and science and technology.

This round of Eurobarometer surveys covers the following special topics: (1)Passenger Rights and (2)Development Aid. Respondent's opinions were collected regarding their rights and experiences as passengers on board planes, rail, ship, and other public transportation means. They were asked about disruptions, delays, transportation mode, noise and assistance. Their opinions were also collected about EU development aid, poverty, and living conditions. They were asked where development aid should be used, for example, to improve health, education, water and sanitation, or a number of other areas. They were also asked where they obtained their information about development.

Demographic and other background information collected includes age, gender, nationality, marital status, left-right political self-placement, occupation, age when stopped full-time education, household composition, ownership of a fixed or mobile telephone and other durable goods, difficulties in paying bills, self-assessed level in society, self-assessed social class, and Internet use. Geographic coverage: Africa, Ghana, Global
Time period: 2002-01-01--2002-12-31
The Ghana Population, Consumption, and Environment Survey (or Ghana-PCE Survey) was conducted in 2002 in collaboration with investigators at the University of Science and Technology (Kumasi) and the University of Cape Coast. The survey was designed to examine the social and demographic processes that are closely linked to health and environmental health risks, and how these in turn influence local thinking about environmental issues. The 2002 Ghana-PCE Survey collected information on women's birth histories (birth dataset), occupations and events over the respondent's lifetime (men's and women's calendar datasets), and the health of respondents' children who were at or under 6 years of age (children dataset). Additionally, information was collected on the availability of services such as electricity and drinking water, economic conditions, and perceived necessity of developmental programs (community dataset), as well as the availability of services such as waste disposal, the size of households, and the materials used in construction of houses (household dataset). Respondents' were also asked about voting behavior, community organization membership, public health practices, knowledge of illnesses in children, prevention and treatment of diseases, family planning, and environmental attitudes and awareness (individual dataset). This poll, fielded March 2-7, 2011, is a part of a continuing series of monthly surveys that solicits public opinion on a range of political and social issues. Respondents were asked whether they were satisfied with the quality of health care they receive, whether they thought that doctors make too much money, where they usually receive their basic health care, and whether their doctor is in a small private practice or a group practice. Opinions were gathered on the quality of the respondent's drinking water, how concerned they were about contamination of soil and water in their community, the importance for the United States to develop an alternative to oil, whether using nuclear energy, renewable energy, natural gas, and coal to generate electricity was a good idea, whether there is too much federal regulation of the natural gas industry, the industrial disposal of contaminated water and the hydraulic fracturing industry, and whether they thought hydraulic fracturing was safe. Respondents were also asked how important they thought it was for girls to have the same amount of opportunities in high school sports as boys, how much they knew about Title IX and whether its impact has been positive, and whether they favor programs that make special efforts for minorities to get ahead. Respondents were queried on program cuts and raising taxes to reduce government spending and the federal budget deficit, whether American corporations pay their fair share of income taxes, whether taxes on corporate profits should be increased, and whether all companies should pay the same income tax rate. Additional topics included race relations, gender relations, and the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
