The Afrobarometer is a comparative series of public attitude surveys that collects and disseminates data regarding Africans' views on democracy, governance, the economy, civil society, and related issues. American Health Values Survey II, [United States], 2019-2020 (ICPSR 38818)
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) has a vision to build a Culture of Health (CoH) by making health a shared national priority, one valued and advanced by multiple stakeholders across all sectors of society. This vision embraces a very broadly integrated and comprehensive approach to health, one where well-being lies at the center of every aspect of American life. In 2014, the RWJF commissioned NORC at the University of Chicago to plan and conduct the first American Health Values Survey (AHVS) to understand the extent to which United States adults held views consistent with this vision. The idea was to explore which types of United States adults were more supportive and less supportive of the goal and what the differences were between the more and less supportive groups. To aid in the understanding of these differences, NORC developed a typology of United States adults based on their values and beliefs related to the CoH vision.
Using a large-scale national survey fielded in late 2015 and early 2016, NORC identified six major segments of the population of adults in the United States based on their differing health values and beliefs and developed detailed profiles of each segment that described their pattern of values and beliefs as well as their demographic, political and other characteristics. NORC subsequently replicated the typology development work in five RWJF Sentinel Communities across the nation and also developed a typology of rural America. The same segments, or similar ones, were common across various geographic areas of the United States. Four years have since passed, in which changes occurred in the country. RWJF in 2019 commissioned NORC to conduct a second national, cross-sectional survey (AHVS II) in late 2019 and early 2020.

The goal of this Common Sense research study was to provide current information about parent media use and their perceptions of their children and teens' (ages 8-18) media use. Data is from a nationally representative, probability-based, and cross-sectional online survey that was taken by parents of children and teens ages 8- to 18-years-old. Participants answered questions about their media use and their perception of their tweens or teens' media use. Media use included watching television, movies, and videos; playing video games; listening to music; using social media, reading either print or electronic books; and using digital devices for other purposes, such as browsing websites, playing games, or any other activity. We also asked about computer, smartphone, and tablet (and similar device) use for work purposes. Demographics include age, household income, parent education, race/ethnicity, gender, household size, and parent/caregiver employment status.

This data collection is comprised of responses from two sets of survey questionnaires, the basic Current Population Survey (CPS) and a survey administered as a supplement to the November 2008 CPS questionnaire on the topic of Civic Engagement. The Corporation for National and Community Service sponsored the November supplemental questions.
The CPS, administered monthly, collects labor force data about the civilian noninstitutional population aged 15 years old or older living in the United States. Moreover, the CPS provides current estimates of the economic status and activities of this population which includes estimates of total employment (both farm and nonfarm), nonfarm self-employed persons, domestics, and unpaid helpers in nonfarm family enterprises, wage and salaried employees, and estimates of total unemployment. Data from the CPS are provided for the week prior to the administration of the survey.
All persons eligible for the basic CPS survey were also eligible for the supplement survey. Self or proxy responses were allowed for the supplement, that is a single respondent could provide answers for themselves or provide answers for all eligible household members, provided the respondent him/herself was a household member 15 years of age or older.
The supplement questions sought to measure the level of civic engagement of individuals in the United States. Civic engagement is a broad concept that can be defined by one's level of or involvement in: empowerment and political action; groups and networks; trust and solidarity; information and communication; and social cohesion and inclusion. The supplement questions specifically related to people's level of communication with their friends and family, involvement and level of participation in their communities as well as organized groups, extent of political action and knowledge, extent of connections with other community members, and how often individuals get news and information from various media sources.
Demographic variables include age, sex, race, Hispanic origin, marital status, veteran status, educational background, occupation, industry, and income.

The East Asian Social Survey (EASS) is a biennial social survey project that serves as a cross-national network of the following four General Social Survey type surveys in East Asia: the Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS), the Japanese General Social Survey (JGSS), the Korean General Social Survey (KGSS), and the Taiwan Social Change Survey (TSCS), and comparatively examines diverse aspects of social life in these regions. Since its 1st module survey in 2006, EASS produces and disseminates its module survey datasets and this is the harmonized data for the 7th module survey, called 'Culture and Globalization in East Asia'.
Survey information in this module is the same topic as the second module of the EASS 2008, and it focuses on cultural norms and expectations of respondents. Respondents were asked about their exposure to East Asian cultural activities and rituals as well as opinion on family responsibilities and roles. Other topics include sources of international news and discussion frequency, countries or regions traveled, as well as where acquaintances live. Additionally, respondents were asked how accepting they would be of people from other countries as coworkers, neighbors, and in marriage. Information was collected regarding foreign practices, whether the respondent was working for a foreign capital company, and the economic environment. Respondents were also asked to assess their own proficiency when reading, speaking, and writing in English. Demographic information specific to the respondent and their spouse includes age, sex, marital status, education, employment status and hours worked, occupation, earnings and income, religion, class, size of community, and region.

The special topic modules address such topics as agriculture, education, natural environment and resources, public health, public safety and crime, and science and technology.
This round of Eurobarometer surveys diverged from the Standard Eurobarometer measures and queried respondents on the following major areas of focus: (1) the European Parliament (EP), (2) energy supply, (3) data protection and electronic identity, (4) chemical labeling, and (5) rare diseases. For the first major area of focus, the European Parliament, respondents were asked about their knowledge and opinion of the EP, whether the EP should play a more important or less important role, which policies should be given priority by the EP, and which values should be defended by the EP. For the second major area of focus, energy supply, respondents were queried about what goals should be prioritized in energy policies, what energy policies should be adopted, and whether or not there should be a communal European Union (EU) energy policy. Additionally, respondents were asked whether they believed it was in their country's energy security interest to assist other EU member states facing energy supply problems, as well as whether they believed it was desirable that their country provide assistance to other EU member states in the name of European solidarity. For the third major area of focus, questions address activities one performs on the Internet, opinions about types of information and data considered to be personal, types of information disclosed on social networking and online shopping sites and the risks, and measures taken to protect one's identity. Opinions were also collected on how personal information and data are acquired, treated, stored and protected by public and private organizations. For the fourth major area of focus, chemical labeling, respondents were asked about their use and perception of chemical products in various circumstances, how they determine whether or not a chemical product is hazardous, what the proper handling of chemical products is, where respondents find information about the potential dangers of chemical products, who to trust for information about chemical product safety, and whether or not they could correctly identify chemical product warning labels. For the fifth major area of focus, rare diseases, respondents were interviewed about what they believe rare diseases are, whether or not they knew or heard of someone with a rare disease, what society should do about rare diseases, what specific policy responses to rare diseases should be implemented by national health services and the EU as a whole, as well as whether or not they had heard of certain rare diseases.

These surveys regularly monitor public opinion in the European Union (EU) member countries and consist of standard modules and special topic modules. The standard modules address attitudes towards European unification, institutions and policies, measurements for general socio-political orientations, as well as respondent and household demographics. In Eurobarometer 79.2 the standard Eurobarometer module is not included however respondent and household demographics are included. The special topic modules address such topics as agriculture, education, natural environment and resources, public health, public safety and crime, and science and technology.
This round of Eurobarometer surveys cover the following special topics: (1) internal market (2) cultural activities (3) non-urban road use, quality and tolls (4) science and technology, and (5) undeclared work and tax fraud. In regard to the internal market, opinions were collected on the frequency of online purchases, technology used to make orders, types of goods purchased, problems experienced with online shopping, reasons why respondents do not purchase products online from other EU member states and distrust of online retailers. Respondents were asked if they were ever employed in an European state other than their home country and ways to assess quality of professional service providers. In queries on cultural activities, the frequency in which respondents visit museums, the cinema, public libraries in their home country and other EU countries were recorded as well as why they did not participate in cultural activities. Respondents were also asked if they participated in expressive arts such as dancing, writing poems, handicrafts, or playing musical instruments. In regard to non-urban road tolls respondents are polled on the frequency in which they use roads outside of cities, the quality and amount of congestion on those roads, purpose for using those roads. Opinions were collected on whether the government should spend more money on roads and their willingness to pay higher tolls. In the science and technology section, there are questions about interests in and knowledge of developments in science and technology, whether family members have formal credentials in science and technology, their source of information about the latest developments. Additionally, respondents were asked about the usefulness of science and technology. Lastly as it relates to undeclared work in the European Union respondents were asked if they know people who do not declare income, their awareness of the risk of getting caught, the consequences of getting caught and opinions on reasons for doing undeclared work.

Respondents' opinions were collected regarding common forms of transportation, status of infrastructure in the respondent's country, reasons for using various forms of transportation, the use of autonomous vehicles, frequency and purpose of travel, and issues affecting rail, air, sea, and road transportation. Additional questions were asked regarding risks of cyber crime, respondents' use of the internet, how cyber security concerns have altered respondents' online behavior, prevention of online harassment of household children, and concern about and experience with being victimized in cyber crime. Respondents were also asked about the Value Added Tax (VAT) and how often they purchased goods from other EU member states. Further questions include knowledge of information regarding reimbursement for healthcare, and respondents' willingness to and opinions of policies related to blood, tissue, and organ donation.
