Many businesses would like to claim their electricity use results in no greenhouse gases. Because electricity cannot be traced from specific generators to purchasers, regulators and users propose an approximation. Clean electricity use would meet three conditions, or “pillars.” It must be generated (1) nearby, (2) during the same hour, and (3) by newly constructed plants. Qualifying electricity use would be cleaner than average but not carbon-free, with average incremental emissions ranging from 69 to 100 percent of unrestricted emissions. The conditions limit the amount of already-existing power that can be claimed, and so could encourage construction of clean capacity.

Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) is an independent, not-for-profit organization that delivers safe, cost-effective electric power across 15 U.S. states and the Canadian province of Manitoba.
This deposit contains an SQLite database encompassing bids, offers, and prices on the Midcontinent ISO (MISO) Electricity Market from 2008 to 2012.
It can be constructed downloading data from the MISO website, but the database format is convenient for data analysis. The database contains five tables:- AGGS: Aggregate variables like day-ahead and real-time load at an hourly frequency at the market level.- DA_BIDS_MISO: Bids submitted in the day-ahead market by virtual and physical demand participants.- DA_OFFERS_MISO: Offers submitted in the day-ahead market by generators.- RT_OFFERS: Offers submitted in the real-time market by generators.- LMP: Day-ahead and real-time prices.Bids and offers are linked to nodes using the provided Match files, which were built linking the bid clearing prices to the clearing LMPs at each node.
The SQLite database was compiled by Ignacia Mercadal (Columbia University).

Project Title: EPA Clean Air Markets Emissions Data, 1995 - 2018 The EPA Clean Air Markets Emissions Data is maintained by the EPA’s Clean Air Markets Division. Continuous monitoring and reporting of sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon dioxide (CO2), and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions is required for sources regulated under Part 75 of Volume 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations, also known as the continuous emissions monitoring rule.[1] This was established in 1990 under Title IV of the Clean Air Act. This regulation was published in January 1993 to establish the continuous emission monitoring (CEM) and reporting requirements for the EPA’s Acid Rain Program (ARP) which was a part of the Clean Air Act. This program is required for electric generating units that burn fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas and that serve a generator larger than 25 megawatts. Part 75 requires hourly emissions accounting through the use of continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS) unless a unit qualifies for an alternative monitoring methodology.[2]
These EPA data were downloaded from EPA Clean Air Markets Data https://ampd.epa.gov/ampd/ as of June 1, 2020. There are options to download prepackaged data or to customize your data query. For this data acquisition, FTP was used to download the prepackaged data at an hourly emissions by month level. All emissions data from 1995 to 2018 were downloaded. The file "datadefinition_04-25-2021_161016484.csv" serves as a codebook (downloaded April 25, 2021).

This project examined the role of place attachment in facilitating successful resettlement programs and identified barriers faced by resettled communities as they establish place attachment to the post-resettlement site. Respondents were asked about which items were needed for a better life and the importance of these items; items required for survival and happiness; and items needed for a better home. In addition, respondents were asked about the social environments in their post-resettlement site and former village; their material possessions in the post-resettlement site and former village; their household expenses in the post-resettlement site; and quality of life in their former village including availability of utilities, housing materials, and presence of disasters. Demographic variables include ethnic group, age, sex, language, education, occupation, and number of school-aged children in the household and their education.

In this poll, fielded February 2-4, 2009, respondents were asked whether they approved of the way Barack Obama was handling the presidency, foreign policy, the economy, and the campaign against terrorism. Opinions were collected about whether the country was going in the right direction, whether the condition of the economy was good, how long the recession would last, and what could be done to get the United States out of the recession. Respondents were asked their opinions of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Democrats in Congress, Republicans in Congress, and Congress as a whole. Several questions were asked about coal including questions that asked respondents whether they would approve of building plants that were powered by coal to generate electricity, whether it was a good idea to use coal to generate electricity, whether they thought doing so would contribute to global warming, whether they knew of any companies using technology to generate electricity from coal in a way that does not contribute to global warming, respondent's definition of "clean coal," and whether advertisements about "clean coal" technology had changed their opinion of whether it was possible to use coal to generate electricity in a way that was less likely to contribute to global warming. Other questions asked about the economic stimulus plan, how closely respondents had been following news about it, whether they approved of the federal government passing an economic stimulus bill, whether the bill would shorten the recession, and whether it was okay for the Democrats to pass the bill without the support of the Republicans in Congress. Additional topics addressed closing the United States prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, abortion, job security, global warming, the concept of "nature versus nurture," and where people obtain their sense of morality. This poll, fielded April 20-24, 2007, is a part of a continuing series of monthly surveys that solicits public opinion on the presidency and on a range of other political and social issues. Respondents were asked to say whether they approved of the way George W. Bush was handling his job as president and other issues such as the war in Iraq, to rate the condition of the environment in the world and their own community, and whether the Republican party or the Democratic party was more likely to protect the environment, make the United States less dependent on foreign oil, and ensure the United States has enough sources of energy. Respondents were asked several questions about protecting the environment, including which environmental problem was the most important, whether they would vote for a candidate based on their views of the environment, the responsibility of federal and state governments to set environmental protections, drilling for oil and gas in the Arctic National Wildlife refuge in Alaska, and whether it was more important to stimulate the economy or protect the environment. The study was originally called the Wisconsin Electricity Consumer Survey and was an experiment to generate and analyze data on the effects of peak-load pricing on residential electric consumption. The experimental design featured nine distinct peak load pricing treatments, a time of day demand treatment, a seasonal flat-rate treatment, and a control group. Six sets of data resulted from the demonstration: questionnaire surveys of the customers (both control and experimental), summary demographic information, utility load reports, weather data, and customer usage records. All six sets (representing the five main parts of the Demonstration Project series) are available in this data collection. Part 1 contains the customer survey response data from 400 control participants, and Part 2 contains the customer survey response data from 399 experimental participants. Research Triangle Institute (RTI) provided the research and analysis support to the project, and ICF, Inc. consulted on the time-of-use rate design. The experiment lasted from 1977 to 1979 and involved residential customers of the two participating utilities. This data collection contains energy commodity production statistics for approximately 200 United Nations reporting countries for the years 1970-1979. In this file, each record refers to an individual reporting country and the quantity of its various transactions (e.g., production, imports, exports, bunkers, additions to stocks, and capacity) for a given energy commodity in a given year. Only annual data are included. The 70 types of commodities reported include solid fuels (e.g., coal, peat, and charcoal), liquid fuels (e.g., crude petroleum, gasoline, and kerosene), gases, uranium, and both industrial and public types of geothermal, hydro, and nuclear generated electricity. Information is also included on the population (in thousands) of the reporting country, the quantity of the commodity per transaction, and the date of the transaction. Supplementary data not contained in this data collection are in the introduction and footnotes of the individual tables published in the YEARBOOK OF WORLD ENERGY STATISTICS, 1979.

Guernsey and Company, and the Center for Economic and Management Research at the University of Oklahoma. The project spanned one year from 1977 to 1978. The study, also titled the Electricity Rate Study or Electric Demonstration Project, was an experiment to generate and analyze data on the effects of peak-load pricing on residential electricity consumption. The experimental design featured four non-traditional rate structures: time of day rates, flat rates, seasonal rates, and a combination of seasonal and time-of-day rates. Four sets of data resulted from the demonstration: questionnaire survey data from customers, utility load reports, weather data, and customer usage records.
