What is membership at ICPSR? How do I know if I'm a member? What is an OR/DR? How can my organization become a member?

Membership in ICPSR is determined by your university or organizational affiliation. A list of member institutions can be found on the ICPSR website.

Data Access:

If you are attempting to access data and encounter an “access denied” message, one of the following may have occurred:

• You are not at a member institution. (How do I access ICPSR data if I am not at a member institution?)
• ICPSR uses IP ranges to validate data users by approved location, such as a college campus. It may be that the IP range for your institution is out of date. This can be updated by your ICPSR Representative, please contact them directly.
• You have encountered a different error. Please contact our Help Desk and include the URL and a screenshot if possible.

ICPSR Summer Program:

If you are a staff member or student at a member institution, you are eligible to pay member tuition for the ICPSR Summer Program, which is significantly discounted. Learn more: Summer Program Registration & Fees

Each member institution has an ICPSR Representative, typically a faculty or staff member, who can assist with using ICPSR resources. If you plan to attend the Summer Program, it’s recommended to reach out to your institution’s Representative. The Representative can provide valuable advice regarding the Program and share useful materials.
