Meet Chi-Tsun, an Official Representative (OR) for ICPSR at their institution in Taiwan, who specializes in health and aging research. With over a decade of experience using ICPSR data, they share favorite memories, insights from the ICPSR Biennial Meeting, and a few fun surprises about life outside of work.

Academia Sinica, Associate Research Fellow (with tenure) of doing health/aging research

What is a favorite memory or instance you have working with ICPSR? What makes ICPSR a great place?

ICPSR preserves (and reuses) lots of data and trains future researchers.

What is your favorite part of working with ICPSR?

I’ve gained lots of insights from the ICPSR 2025 Biennial Meeting. It’s amazing how much high-quality research data ICPSR provides.

What’s one ICPSR dataset you find fascinating, unusual, or you’ve had a hand in getting deposited?

Hispanic Established Population for the Epidemiological Study of the Elderly (HEPESE): I used the data for collaborative papers.

How long have you worked with ICPSR?

It’s been 10+ years since I first used ICPSR data.

What do you do when not at work?

Stay with family

What have you read/viewed/listened to/etc. recently?

Journal papers…. (my life is a bit boring, right…)

What might surprise us about you?

I was an options trader who developed trading strategies and programs with C++ code in Taiwan’s financial market in my 20s. Would that be surprising?
