Preserving USAID Global Education Data: Insights Into a Collaborative Effort

When the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) ended its education programs in early 2025, years of valuable global education data were at risk of being lost. A new article shares insights on how members of the data community joined forces to salvage, reorganize, and publish over 2,500 files from 109 projects across 43 countries. Their efforts led to a new data-sharing partnership, enabling public access to these datasets via the DataLumos repository. The team continues working to improve access and encourages contributions to further strengthen the USAID education data collection.
