What is your ICPSR Job Title?
Product Manager
What is a favorite memory or instance you have working at ICPSR? What makes ICPSR a great place to work?
The humanity. It’s a natural tendency to try and be a hero and work through illness. We’re collectively very good about reminding others to use our sick time to care for ourselves.
Where are you from?
Born in a small village in Sierra Leone. Raised in New Jersey. Seasoned in New York City. And been in Ann Arbor for a dozen years.
What is your favorite part of your job?
Working to provide tools that advance social science research.
How long have you worked here?
Almost 2 years
What do you do when not at work?
Walk my dogs in nature, a crucial ingredient of the self care that is learning to thrive with anxiety and depression.
What have you read/viewed/listened to/etc. recently?
Three Body Problem … A unique take on the impracticalities of alien first encounters.
What might surprise us about you?
I’m currently a data point in two different studies about mental health — one exploring connections with exercise, the other examining the multiracial experience — and hope to wind up in ICPSR’s archives when they are published.
Anything else that you’d like to share with us?
I’m really bad at recognizing people out of context. I once rode on a plane next to somebody who looked so very familiar, but I couldn’t place her. Turned out it was Chelsea Clinton.
Photo captions (left to right, top to bottom): Appearing as Mother Ginger in the Nutcracker. All natural Halloween villain mustache. Ski trip – not shown: sore knee, shoulder and hip. Walking my dogs on a cold day.
Thanks, Hassan!
