What is your ICPSR Job Title?

Full-Stack Engineer Supervisor

What is a favorite memory or instance you have working at ICPSR? What makes ICPSR a great place to work?

I’ve had too many great experiences here to choose a favorite, and my colleagues (who are both brilliant and supportive) get the credit for that. It’s also extremely rare to find this level of competence and compassion in senior management.

Where are you from?

I grew up mostly in Toledo, Ohio.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I have the freedom and flexibility to identify and solve problems, knowing that management has my back. And getting to write code every now and then is deeply satisfying. 🙂

How long have you worked here?

Around one and a half years.

What do you do when not at work?

Creating art, handling DIY projects around the house, making things; basically anything that requires using my hands. I also enjoy fostering for the humane society.

What have you read/viewed/listened to/etc. recently?

I usually have NPR on the radio, but lately I’ve been listening to the audiobook version of Educated. Akimbo is probably my favorite podcast.

What might surprise us about you?

I’ve spent many years singing in barbershop quartets and choruses.

Anything else that you’d like to share with us?

I’m the proud father of two responsible young adults, Damien and Maggie.
