Leveraging Colorado’s All-Payer Claims Database to Understand Long COVID Burden

We use a 100% sample of Colorado’s All-Payers Claims Database (APCD) to estimate healthcare utilization among patients diagnosed with Long COVID. We also calculate healthcare expenditures after a diagnosis. The APCD contains insurance claims data for close to 75% of the state population.

Speaker Bio: Marcelo C. Perraillon, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Health, Systems, Management & Policy at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and a President’s Teaching Scholar. His research focuses on the evaluation of the effects of health care policy on costs, quality, and outcomes. Areas of interest include long-term care, Medicare/Medicaid policy evaluation and cancer care. Before obtaining his doctoral degree at the University of Chicago, he was a researcher at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). Dr. Perraillon co-directs the Population Health Share Resources core at the University of Colorado Comprehensive Cancer Center.
