Introductory Exploration and Analysis of the Monitoring the Future Data

This workshop is tailored for researchers who have little or no previous experience with the MTF data. This workshop will introduce participants to the MTF cross-sectional data (public-use and restricted-use) and the restricted-use longitudinal panel data available from the ICPSR/NAHDAP. The workshop will consist of a brief overview of the MTF Cross-sectional and Longitudinal Panel studies and a detailed discussion of the content of MTF public release and restricted-use data. Data management and analysis planning will be discussed, including information about the complex sample design and panel analysis weights. The workshop will include lecture, discussion, and hands-on exercises.

Advanced Exploration and Analysis of the Monitoring the Future Data

July 22-24, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. EDT

This workshop is tailored for researchers who have previously used MTF data in their research. The workshop will consist of a brief overview of the MTF Cross-sectional and Longitudinal Panel studies and a detailed discussion of the content of MTF public release and restricted-use data. Data management and analysis planning will be discussed, including information about the complex sample design and panel analysis weights. A variety of analytic techniques appropriate for data derived from a complex sample design and for analyzing the longitudinal panel data will be demonstrated and discussed. The workshop will include lecture, discussion, and limited hands-on exercises with the cross-sectional public-use files. The restricted cross-sectional data and longitudinal panel data will be reviewed, but they will not be utilized during the workshop.
