ICPSR Announces Winners of 2018 Research Paper Competitions!

ICPSR is pleased to announce the first- and second-place winners of our 2018 Research Paper Competitions.  

Paul Hemez, (Demography and Family) of Bowling Green State University earned First Place in the Master’s Competition with a paper titled “Military Service and Entry into Marriage: Comparing Service Members to Civilians," which has been published in a special edition of the ICPSR Bulletin.

Matthew Utterback (Applied Economics and Management) of Cornell University earned Second Place in the Master’s competition with a paper titled “Investigating Weather Shocks and the Farmers’ Perceptions of Climate Change in the American Farmland Market.”

There were no winners this year for the Undergraduate competition.

Announcing the 2019 ICPSR Research Paper Competitions!

We are also pleased to announce the 2019 ICPSR Research Paper Competitions for Undergraduates and Graduate Students. The purpose of the competitions is to highlight exemplary research papers based on quantitative analysis that uses ICPSR data. The awards are $1,000 for first place and $750 for second place in each category and publication on the ICPSR Research Paper Competition Winners website and in a special edition of the ICPSR Bulletin for the first place winners. See the competition website for details. Deadline for submissions is January 31, 2019.

About the ICPSR Research Paper Competitions

The ICPSR Research Paper Competition accepts entries of papers for analyses on any topic using data from ICPSR. We invite submissions from students and recent graduates at ICPSR member institutions.
