Monitoring the Future Restricted-Use In-School Data Now Available
The Monitoring the Future: A Continuing Study of American Youth [Restricted-Use
] in-school data are now available for approved researchers to access in the ICPSR Virtual Data Enclave (VDE).
The MTF restricted-use data series provides two datasets for each year since 1976. Each dataset includes the MTF original variables, including the unaltered weight variable, that in the public-use data were altered or omitted. Dataset 1 has these original variables but not the State and Zip Code variables. Dataset 2 has the original variables and also the State and Zip Code variables. Also included as part of each annual collection is a zip archive of the Monitoring the Future public-use data and documentation for each respective year so that researchers have all in-school data avaialble to them in the VDE.
Data in the MTF restricted-use series can be located through the MTF series web page at http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/icpsrweb/NAHDAP/series/00035 .
After selecting an annual collection, use the "apply online" link in the Access Notes to start your application. Multiple years of data can be selected in one application.
