Former ICPSR Director Gutmann to speak at OR symposium

Former ICPSR Director Myron Gutmann, now leader of the National Science Foundation's Directorate Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences, will be the featured speaker at a symposium titled "The Next 50 Years of Social Science Data" on Thursday, Oct. 6, in Ann Arbor.

Gutmann's talk is titled "Rebuilding the Mosiac: Research in the Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences in the Next Decade," and will be followed by a panel discussion.

The panelists are: Thomas LaVeist, Center for Health Disparities Solutions, Johns Hopkins University; Barbara Schneider, College of Education and the Department of Sociology, Michigan State University; Tom Smith, National Opinion Research Center, University of Chicago; Christopher Zorn, Political Science, Pennsylvania State University.

Kevin Schürer, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Leicester and a 2011 recipient of ICPSR's Warren E. Miller Award for Meritorious Service to the Social Sciences, will serve as symposium chair.
