ICPSR continues to support public access to federally supported research and development data

ICPSR is actively participating in discussions about the February 2013 White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) memorandum, which "directs each Federal agency with over $100 million in annual conduct of research and development expenditures to develop a plan to support increased public access to the results of research funded by the Federal Government."

On May 16-17, the National Research Council (NRC) Division on Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education (DBASSE) held a public comment meeting at the National Academy of Sciences concerning public access to federally supported research and development data. ICPSR submitted a written statement in advance, strongly supporting increased public access to scientific data and encouraging federal agencies developing public access plans to make research data discoverable, meaningful & usable, persistent, trustworthy, confidential (where applicable), and citable.

Jared Lyle, Director of Curation Services at ICPSR, attended the meeting and gave verbal comments.  Video and presentations from the meeting are available online.
