John Poe

John Poe is a statistician with the division of General Medicine at Michigan Medicine. Prior to coming to the University of Michigan, he was a postdoctoral scholar for the Center for Public Health Services and Systems Research at the University of Kentucky where he previously earned a PhD in Political Science. John’s substantive work is on health policy evaluation and health services research. Methodologically, he works on problems dealing with clustered, multilevel, and longitudinal data structures mostly with tools from biostatistics and econometrics. His primary teaching and research interests are multilevel and longitudinal modeling, observational causal inference, and Bayesian methods. In addition to his courses with the summer program, John also teaches at the Global School of Empirical Research Methods in St. Gallen Switzerland.
