Sebastian Calonico

Sebastian Calonico is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Miami. His main research goal is to develop innovative and rigorous methodological procedures to study relevant problems in applied work. More specifically, he focuses on constructing novel robust nonparametric and semiparametric methods that can be applied to the identification and estimation of causal effects in economics as well as other social, medical and statistical sciences. His work has been published in various journals, including Econometrica and the Journal of the American Statistical Association. In 2015, he received the Gosnell Prize for Excellence in Political Methodology for his work on regression-discontinuity designs. Sebastian was born in Argentina, where he completed his undergraduate education at the University of Buenos Aires. He received a PhD in Economics from the University of Michigan, where he also obtained an MA in Statistics. He joined the Economics Department of the University of Miami in 2014.
