Douglas Baer

Douglas Baer is Professor Emeritus in the Faculty of Social Science at the University of Victoria in Victoria, BC, Canada and has taught quantitative research methods at the undergraduate and graduate level since 1979 at 3 different Canadian universities. Prior to his recent retirement from the University of Victoria, he was the Academic Director of the Branch Statistics Canada Research Data Centre there. He is a former President of the Canadian Sociological Association. His research interests include voluntarism and civic engagement, immigrant social and economic adaptation in Canadian society, social inequality, and comparative politics.
