Karen Abram is a clinical psychologist and Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago Illinois. She has been conducting research focusing on the interface between the mental health and criminal justice systems and health disparities in at-risk populations. in collaboration with Dr. Linda Teplin at the Health Disparities and Public Policy Program for over 25 years. Most recently, they have been conducting the Northwestern Juvenile Project, a longitudinal study of the health needs and outcomes of detained youth. Her research interests include comorbid psychiatric disorders, trauma, loss and other adverse childhood experiences, suicide, and the impact of justice system involvement on outcomes.
