Updating Files Previously Released

Updating Data or Documentation

Members of the research community who have previously deposited their data with NACJD are encouraged to submit additions, updates, or changes to that data and/or documentation that would benefit future analysis. Examples of such enhancements include: additional waves of data, previously unavailable documentation and/or syntax files, and newly discovered corrections and/or errata notes.

Submission procedures for such items parallel the procedures for new deposits. Researchers should mark "yes" for the question, "Is this deposit a new edition, extract, update, or special version of an existing ICPSR data collection?," and include a note in the comment box provided at the bottom of the online deposit form. The note should list the ICPSR study number of the existing release version and detail how each deposited file differs from those previously released. Questions regarding this process should be directed to nacjd@icpsr.umich.edu

Updating Publication Lists

NACJD strongly encourages investigators to submit citations of their published work to the ICPSR Bibliography of Data-related Literature even after their study has been released. The ICPSR Bibliography is a searchable database of known published and unpublished works that use data distributed by ICPSR. The Bibliography is a valuable resource for replicating analyses, finding reports that contain summary statistics, getting more detail on methodological issues, and learning about work already published to avoid duplicating analysis.

Part of ICPSR's mission is to advance and expand social and behavioral research. The data from published studies continue to have analytic potential; contributing to the bibliography helps facilitate data discovery and promotes new research through secondary analysis. Citations to published work can be sent at any time to bibalerts@umich.edu. Please include the ICPSR study number and title to help in identifying your study.
