The dataset is hierarchical, containing three
levels of information within one file. These three levels of data can
be used in combination or independently and are made up of the
following types of information: data on the household, data on the
persons in the household, and data on the criminal victimizations
experienced by members of the household. The hierarchical file has
42,448 records that are broken up as follows: 14,258 household level
records, 25,238 person-level records, and 2,952 victimization
records. There is one record per case for each of the levels.
data are provided in a fixed block file. The record lengths of the
three levels of data have a uniform length of 470.
