This data collection describes in quantitative terms the
volume of juvenile cases disposed in Nebraska during 1988-1993 by
courts having jurisdiction over juvenile matters (delinquency, status
offense, and dependency cases). The Nebraska Juvenile Court Registry
system was inaugurated in 1971 by the Nebraska Commission on Law
Enforcement and Criminal Justice to collect data from juvenile justice
agencies on each case disposed during the previous calendar year. The
data are used by the Commission in juvenile justice planning, and by
county and juvenile courts, juvenile probation offices, private and
public agencies, and industry interested in juvenile involvement in
the state's courts. Cases involving individuals under age 18 which are
filed directly in district courts and juvenile traffic offenses or
citations are not included. The data include a record of each case
processed with or without filing a petition and include a county code,
youth's date of birth, age at referral, sex, date of referral, date of
disposition, and case disposition.
