Version V2

The dataset contains information on European integration, life satisfaction, and social goals, as well as respondent attitudes toward the European Parliament. Attitudes towards the expansion of the European Economic Community were also probed, as well as opinions on the most necessary members in the event of European political unification. Respondents were also questioned extensively on the European Currency Unit, current and preferred working conditions, recent travel, and dealings with financial institutions.

1986-08-18 ICPSR data undergo a confidentiality review and are altered when necessary to limit the risk of disclosure. ICPSR also routinely creates ready-to-go data files along with setups in the major statistical software formats as well as standard codebooks to accompany the data. In addition to these procedures, ICPSR performed the following processing steps for this data collection:

  • Standardized missing values.
  • Checked for undocumented or out-of-range codes.

The data are not weighted, however there are two weight variables, V8 (NATION WEIGHT II) and V9 (EUROPEAN WEIGHT), that users may wish to apply during analysis.
