Funding available: CivicLEADS and Stanford Center on Adolescence course at AERA

In less than two weeks, CivicLEADS staff will join Drs. Heather Malin and William Damon of the Stanford Center on Adolescence to present a professional development course at the 2018 American Educational Research Association's (AERA's) Annual Meeting (Monday, April 16, 2018 from 8:00AM to 12:00PM EDT). Mixed Methods Data from the Stanford Civic Purpose Study, will provide a unique opportunity to learn about mixed methods and secondary data analysis within the context of The Stanford Civic Purpose Project. What makes this course so unique?

  • The course will have a heavily interactive focus, providing time for participants to formulate research questions, discuss methods for examining those questions, and collaborate with presenters and peers.

  • Participants will learn about mixed methods research and explore a rich mixed methods dataset, led by the study's investigators.

  • The data, available for download on CivicLEADS, combine two waves of quantitative survey data and two waves of exemplar survey data with over 90 interview transcripts, creating a noteworthy publicly-available mixed methods dataset.

  • Participants with many different interests ranging from mixed methods research to civic engagement to secondary data analysis will find this course beneficial.

Register today for this opportunity to explore new data and develop new skills.

Funding may be available to ensure that there are no financial barriers to participating in this course. If you are interested in receiving funds to offset the $105 course fee, please contact us at civicleads@umich.edu.
