Visitor Information

Note that the following Visitor Information will apply only to participants attending workshops held at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. If you register for a three-to-five day workshop that meets at another site, the Summer Program staff will forward you travel and accommodation information specific to that location.

ICPSR Facilities

During the summer, from May-August, the Summer Program is located in the Helen Newberry Building at 432 South State Street. The remainder of the year we are housed with the ICPSR central administrative offices in the Perry Building, at the corner of Packard and Division streets. Classes will be held on the central campus of the University of Michigan.

Transportation and Maps

Whether you're coming by airplane or auto, bus or train, you'll need a few tips to keep you from getting lost along the way. The following page also includes suggestions for orienting yourself and getting around within Ann Arbor, including maps and parking advice.

Housing in Ann Arbor

Housing for the summer is the responsibility of individual Program participants. However, the following guidelines for finding suitable summer housing accommodations in Ann Arbor have been used effectively by previous participants.

Long Term: More than a month.
Short Term: Typically less than a month.

We update this Guide (PDF 303K) each summer to help orient participants to Ann Arbor. It includes restaurant and bar reviews as well as suggestions for shopping and leisure activities. This posted version, which is from last year, will still be reasonably accurate but if you attend this summer's Program your welcome packet will include an up-to-date edition.
