Variable Search: Study 4701: Welfare, Children, and Families: A Three-City Study

This web application allows users to search across all waves and files of this study to identify variables that can be used within or across waves of the study.

Two types of searches can be conducted:
  • If you know a variable name, the variable name can be used in the input field to find comparable variables in other waves of the study or data files.

  • Words used in the variable label can also be searched to find variables in any or all of the waves of data. This second strategy may produce large displays but can be used if you are unfamiliar with the data files.
The final strategy is to download the entire variable crosswalk into an Excel spreadsheet. The utility to download the spreadsheet is available to the right of the search box. This will allow the user to review the entire variable crosswalk to use additional utilities available in Excel to search for comparable variables.
