The following are updates from SAMHDA:
New web site
SAMHDA released its new web site this morning. The new site includes
several enhancements, including:
** More intuitive, straight-forward navigation;
** More web site content linked from the homepage;
** Homepage links to most popular studies, which will be updated monthly
based on file downloads and uses on the online data analysis system (DAS).
Please also note that the default search mechanism will be our
variable-level search. This searches all meta-data (study descriptions,
variable and value labels, and question text) for studies on the DAS. The
search may run somewhat slowly depending on the search terms entered, but
it searches thousands of variables at one time. For more information on the
variable-level search, see the OAS Short Report "The NHSDA Report: Finding
Specific Variables in the NHSDA"
(http://www.oas.samhsa.gov/2k3/FindVariables/FindVariables.cfm). Options
for searching study descriptions and the web site remain available. Contact
us with any questions regarding the new site.

We appreciate the appropriate citation for analyses using data obtained
from SAMHDA. Each SAMHDA study description and codebook includes a
suggested bibliographic citation for the data. For more information on
appropriately citing electronic data files, see
http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/org/citation.html.
We welcome the submission of citations for publications based on our data
holdings for our online citations database. Use the Web form on the
following page for submitting citations:
http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/SAMHDA/ref-form.html. You may submit papers,
book chapters, etc. that are not yet published and we will track and add
them to the database once they are published. To access the citations
database, select the "related literature" link for a given study or series.
Call our toll-free helpline or email us with any questions or problems
regarding our data holdings, online data analysis system, or web site.
