The following are updates from SAMHDA:
New or updated files
The archival and online data analysis system (DAS) versions of the
1992-2001 Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS) files have been updated with
the latest data extracts available. The new files include the original
codes for primary, secondary, and tertiary substance of abuse, rather than
collapsed codes for these variables, as well as set-up files for Stata in
addition to our traditional SAS and SPSS set-ups.
A new concatenated file for the 1992-2002 TEDS has also been added to the
DAS and Quick Tables. Due to the size of the concatenated file (nearly 19
million records), an archival version is not available. However, subsets of
the file may be downloaded using the DAS.
Access all TEDS files and links from

Announcements
SAMHDA will launch a user registration system, "MyData", on August 23.
Users will continue to have the option to download data anonymously using a
guest login. Users who opt to register will be able to select preferences
(e.g., the statistical package / type of data definition statements
preferred), which will make downloading files smoother. The SAMHDA Web site
will be unavailable briefly at 5:00 p.m. on the 23rd while the new system
is activated. For more information, see
http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/SAMHDA/news.html.
Ongoing
We appreciate the appropriate citation for analyses using data obtained
from SAMHDA. Each SAMHDA study description and codebook includes a
suggested bibliographic citation for the data. For more information on
appropriately citing electronic data files, see
http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/org/citation.html.
We welcome the submission of citations for publications based on our data
holdings for our online citations database. Use the Web form on the
following page for submitting citations:
http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/SAMHDA/ref-form.html. You may submit papers,
book chapters, etc. that are not yet published and we will track and add
them to the database once they are published. To access the citations
database, select the "related literature" link for a given study or series.
Call our toll-free helpline or email us with any questions or problems
regarding using our data holdings or online data analysis system.
