Following are updates from the archive:
(1) 1996-2000 TEDS updates/additions completed
The 1996-1999 TEDS files on the online data analysis system (DAS) have been
updated with the latest data extract (April, 2002). The initial release of
the 2000 TEDS was from the April, 2002 extract. The new archival file for
the 1999 TEDS has also been released. We anticipate that new archival files
for the 1996-1998 TEDS will be available in the next 2-3 weeks.
The concatenated TEDS file on the DAS now includes data for the years
1995-2000. An archival version of the concatenated file is not available
due to its size (now 9.6 million records). However, the DAS may be used to
subset and download data from the concatenated file (e.g., data for a
particular PMSA or state across all six years).
All DAS and archival TEDS files are available from the following link:
http://www.icpsr.umich.edu:8080/SAMHDA-SERIES/00056.xml.
(2) MTF files added to DAS
The Monitoring the Future 12th grade core files for 1976-1994 have been
added to the DAS and are available at:
http://www.icpsr.umich.edu:8080/SAMHDA-SERIES/00035.xml#das.
(3) Download procedures improved
We have changed the file download function on our Web site so that files
may now be downloaded in batches. The system is similar to a "shopping
cart", whereby files are saved for you until you are ready to download
them. Files may be saved at the study- or file-level and selectively
deleted prior to download. If you choose, you may still download one file
at a time by right clicking on the file link and saving the file or
clicking on the "download compressed file" link.
Downloading files in batches will require that you input your email address
so that your files can be uniquely linked to you. The system currently
saves your batch of files for several days. However, email addresses (and
their corresponding files) will be routinely purged, so once you have
selected files for download, please download them promptly. Saving files
singly does not require an email address.
Links to online analysis components and related Web sites and reports have
also been built into our download pages. Online analysis links appear at
the dataset level, while related links are listed at the bottom of the page
for each study.
Please call our helpline or email us with any questions you have regarding
the new download features.
(4) An errata sheet has been added to the 2000 NHSDA. The errata is
included with the archival and DAS documentation files for the study and is
most easily viewed from the following link:
http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/SDA12/SAMHDA/nhsda01/codebook/3580.htm. The
errata was also included in the initial release of the 2001 NHSDA. A future
re-release of the 2000 and 2001 files will correct these minor errors.
