Subject: Working group topics

Mary,

Two topics came up during our bug review that involve new features and
call for more comprehensive develop i.e. working groups.

The first is Archive Management Information. We've talked about this
before when creating the Archive module. The intent of this management
piece would be to identify those generic management features that one
might want to keep attached to metadata during its lifetime within a
specific archive. It needs to be developed to address a wide range of
needs from different sizes and different types of organizations and so
any
working group needs to have broad representation or at minimum to gather

information from a broad range of organizations. As DDI starts being
used
by different organizations (archives, producers, registries etc.) it
seems
a good time to start addressing this.

The second address Quality Issues in data collection, processing,
analysis
via registries from any source (people, registries, administrative).
We've
talked about this a bit in means of collecting paradata in surveys but
quality is an issue in survey data, register data, administrative data,
etc. We think a working group composed of people familier with different

types of data collection and analysis processes could examine what
common
issues and information as well as what additional pieces of information
are unque to sepecific sources, data collection practices, or analysis.

We assumed that part of the Expert Committee meeting will be directed
towards identifying new working groups and wanted you to have time to
think about these two areas.
