Ken:
attached a couple of excel sheets with list of statistical packages.
This can be used to define the controlled vocabulary for the r:Software
element. One comes from a survey that was done by San Cannon and the
other comes out of the DBMSCopy help file.
I would add data collection packages such as CSPro, Blaise, CASES and
other you might now. I would also add Nesstar.
Another family that may be missing are math packages.

Other places to go to:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_statistical_packages
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_computer_algebra_systems
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_numerical_analysis_software

For the vocabulary, we're looking for generic package name (like spss,
sas, stata) as the version specific information in under the Software
element. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any question.

thanks
Pascal
