 Hello Pascal:
I've just released spssDDI, an R package (see http://www.r-project.org/,
CRAN, Contributed extension packages) based upon sav2ddi. All future
development (if any) will be using this new framework. 

You may also be interested in a SPSS 16.0 system file (benchmarkSpss16.sav)
that includes a number of new features (see Spss's report,
benchmarkSpss16.pdf, sorry it is in italian). Pspp 0.60 and readDDI reports
are included too.

Two SPSS 16.0 features are (at least for me) completely new:

1. data file attribute (DATAFILE ATTRIBUTE provides the ability for you to
define your own data file attributes and assign attribute values to the
active dataset), type 7 subtype 17 record in the spss system file

2. variable attribute (VARIABLE ATTRIBUTE provides you with the ability to
define your own variable attributes and assign attribute values to variables
in the active dataset. For example, you could create a variable attribute
that identifies the type of response for survey questions (e.g., single
selection, multiple selection, fill-in-the-blank) or the formulas used for
computed variables.), type 7 subtype 18 record. 


I've tried your piece of software,DExT Tools Version 1.0 M1. Very nice, I'll
try to copy a few of its features.
