[DDI-SRG] ODIN & DDI?

Pascal,

On your last point, I do think it would be good to have a mapping
between Triple-s and DDI. We did this a long time ago but with Version
3.0 would have to rethink it.

Publishing mappings to other metadata standards in general is something
that the UOG wants to do. We should work on a list of what the other
standards are so that we can find experts to help with each.

Subject: ODIN & DDI?

All:
please find below a link to the ODIN software used in Germany for
survey data collection.
http://www.niposoftware.com/index.asp?p106r06=FH
It is developed by a Dutch company called NIPO software.
I noticed that they support an output to triple-S
(http://www.triple-s.org/), an XML for survey metadata (that we looked
at during the DDI 3 initial phase).

Couple of things this makes me think of:
- Should the DDI Alliance (maybe through the UOG group) contact NIPO
Software to see if they are interested to support DDI in future releases

of ODIN? I'm not sure how much market penetration ODIN has, maybe our
DANS colleagues may know more about it?
- Should we (DDI-TIC) look into publishing mappings between triple-S and

DDI? I've heard that triple-S popularity has grown in recent years so
this could be useful document / transform to have handy

best
Pascal
