[DDI-SRG] Examples for candidate draft version or schemas for public review version?

Yes, the releases should be stored at sourcefourge and linked by the DDI
Alliance web site.
My understanding is now, that at sourceforge following important
releases are available:
Sourceforge SVN directory for web browser access:
http://ddi-alliance.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/ddi-alliance/DDI-TIC/3/releases/
FinalsForPublicComment.zip
http://ddi-alliance.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/*checkout*/ddi-alliance/DDI-TIC/3/releases/FinalsForPublicComment.zip
including the documentation and an extra zip file with the schemas
3_0_CR_06_22_2007.zip
http://ddi-alliance.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/*checkout*/ddi-alliance/DDI-TIC/3/releases/3_0_CR_06_22_2007.zip
including the documentation and the schemas
?? But what is the difference to DDI_3.0_Part_IVB_XML_Schemas_cr.zip ??
I would strongly opt for the future that structured, consistent, and
somewhat self-explaining file names are chosen for the releases, and not
a different naming system for each release.
Suggestion:
just documentation
DDI_<VERSION_NUMBER>_<DATE_IN_ISO_FORMAT>_Documentation.zip
just schemas
DDI_<VERSION_NUMBER>_<DATE_IN_ISO_FORMAT>_XMLSchema.zip
both documentation and schemas
DDI_<VERSION_NUMBER>_<DATE_IN_ISO_FORMAT>_Documentation_XMLSchema.zip
DDI
It should say what it is.
VERSION_NUMBER
Full version number as in the schemas.
DATE_IN_ISO_FORMAT
The date as an additional indicator to differentiate between
sub-releases or to indicate just the date.
The differentiation between sub-releases should be perhaps better done
in a suffix to the version number itself also in the schemas. Otherwise
keeping track of valid instance according to which schemas can be a pain.
The date should be in ISO format. ISO has two important properties: They
can be globally understood easier than the local date formats and
filenames with ISO data parts are sorted in the right order in a file list.
Example for candidate draft version:
DDI_3_0_CR_2007-06-22_Documentation_XMLSchema.zip
Additionally the directory structure of the ZIP file should be always
the same and unzip in a directory with the same base name as the zip
file itself like:
DDI_3_0_CR_2007-06-22_XMLSchema_Documentation
00readme.txt
Documentation
XMLSchema
A readme file should be included with a very short description what DDI
is and the URL of the DDI Alliance.
