[DDI-SRG] Cancelled phone call

Questions:

Its free on skype and long distance charges apply using regular phone. My 
internet connection is iffier than my phone. To get Skype I have to pay 
for it (I don't generally call anyone long distance so this is an additon 
$36 a year for me). Or is Skype to Skype free (including no set up costs).

If skype transfers to my phone am I then paying charges?

I'm asking these things seriously as 1) I dont' make long distance calls 
except very rarely on my cell phone, 2) I rarely use the phone except for 
this conference call, (my cell phone minutes are generally under 50 per 
month), 3) I'd have to set up skype, get a headset that worked with the 
computer, and 4) I'd be at the mercy of my compter connection which 
believe me is worse than the land line.
