This is a detailed description of Sanda's questions about the URN
construction. I told her I'd get back to her with examples, but if someone
has a chance to look at this and get back to the SRG first it would be
useful. I think Arofan or Achim said they'd look further at examples and
here is a use case to look at. If you do get a chance to do something with
this get back to the srg list. I'd like to make sure we are all on the
same boat before sending anything back to Sanda.

Subject: candidate draft 10 revisited (URNs)
Wendy,
I appreciate your former response(s) on URNs, but I feel I need
something more concrete.
So I will give you an example.
ICPSR (maintaining agency) has 2 studies:
1. StudyUnit_A (unique ID per ICPSR), with:
LogicalProduct_1 (unique ID only within StudyUnit_A)
VariableScheme_1 (unique ID only within LogicalProduct_1 of
StudyUnit_A)
Variable_V1 (unique ID only within VariableScheme_1 of
LogicalProduct_1 of StudyUnit_A)
LogicalProduct_2 (unique ID only within StudyUnit_A)
VariableScheme_1 (unique ID only within LogicalProduct_2 of
StudyUnit_A)
Variable_V1 (unique ID only within VariableScheme_1 of
LogicalProduct_2 of StudyUnit_A)
2. StudyUnit_B (unique ID per ICPSR), with:
LogicalProduct_1 (unique ID only within StudyUnit_B)
VariableScheme_1 (unique ID only within LogicalProduct_1 of
StudyUnit_B)
Variable_V1 (unique ID only within VariableScheme_1 of
LogicalProduct_1 of StudyUnit_B)
LogicalProduct_2 (unique ID only within StudyUnit_B)
VariableScheme_1 (unique ID only within LogicalProduct_2 of
StudyUnit_B)
Variable_V1 (unique ID only within VariableScheme_1 of
LogicalProduct_2 of StudyUnit_B)
The point of the examples above is to show that logical product,
variable scheme and variable have the exact same IDs, which are unique
only within the uppermost level wrapper, but not "per se".
So, the question is, how do I build the URN for variable?
Wendy, could you build a URN for any of the variables above and send it
over? That would be most helpful.
Thanks
Sanda.
